Miranda concentrates her practice on defending medical professionals and product manufacturers in complex litigation. She has extensive experience representing healthcare facilities, physicians, psychologists, dentists, nurses, and behavioral health professionals in both state and federal courts in Virginia and Pennsylvania, with a particular focus on medical malpractice and behavioral health defense. Miranda regularly defends clients against claims involving catastrophic injuries and wrongful death, and has successfully represented corporate clients in intricate tort, product liability, and premises liability actions in courts across the United States.
In addition to her litigation practice, Miranda advises healthcare providers facing inquiries and disciplinary proceedings before the Boards of Medicine. She is skilled in guiding clients through credentialing issues, helping them address challenges related to professional qualifications, licensing, and regulatory compliance.
Miranda has conducted and defended hundreds of expert and company witness depositions, coordinated major discovery projects, briefed and argued motions, participated in mock jury research exercises, and presented witnesses and arguments at trial. She has managed large teams of outside counsel throughout all phases of litigation.
As lead counsel, Miranda has first-chaired more than a dozen jury trials throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia. She has also negotiated favorable settlements for clients, helping them avoid the risks and uncertainties of litigation. Notably, Miranda drafted a motion that resulted in summary judgment for an international Fortune 500 company in a case where plaintiffs sought $50 million in damages.
